I'm excited about this just published article "Mary Wollstonecraft, 'Ithuriel,' and the Rise of the Feminist Author-Ghost" (behind paywall) from Tulsa Studies in Women's Literature. It features a previously unpublished manuscript as its appendix. The 1798 story, "Ithuriel," deserves a lot more attention from readers and scholars, as it imagines a conversation among dead feminists Mary Wollstonecraft, Lady Jane Grey, Aspasia, Boadicea, and Sappho. It is a great privilege to work for Arizona State University and to teach its amazing students. Not only that--the PR people in ASU CLAS and ASU English have a great sense of humor, too! Its fun to be this week's "Faculty Friday" profile.
Upon my word! I'm excited to share my interview with Love & Friendship director and novelist Whit Stillman on all things Janeite and 18th century for Austenprose - A Jane Austen Blog. (I love his getting snarky with me in that Lolita answer!) |
